Is college still relevant in today's society?
In today's society, education is involutional, students are involutional, all walks of life are involutional. Does going to college make any sense in such a society?
Let me share my perspective as someone who grew up in a rural area and attended university.
A good understanding of the situation is the most important thing.
Since I was still young, I didn't understand what they meant.
Getting into a good university meant that I would be able to find a good job in the future, without having to endure the hardships of being a farmer. Was that true ten years ago?
When I entered college, I discovered the exact opposite.
Upon entering university, I realized I was naive and society had changed a long time ago.
I suspect my housemates knew long ago that classes were meaningless and chose to swing since they spent their days either playing games or sleeping. From their mouths, I realized that nowadays getting into college has long been meaningless, and you cannot live the life you want.
I realized then that I had been wrong for over ten years.
Even if you choose the wrong major, it is not much of a fault. Even if you choose the right major, nothing much will come of it.
The society today emphasizes your ability and resources when looking for a job, so the key is to improve your own ability as much as possible.
